The story
Casa Pla Feliz since 2017!
Over the course of forty years, the house was built in this special place, piece by piece, by the previous owners, a endearing Spanish couple. The house, the porch, the balsa swimming pool and the paellero were mainly built by themselves over the years in an organic way. A lot of love has gone into it. As they got older , the garden and the house had fallen into disrepair a bit. Since I took over the house I have been working to reveal the beauty of the place again.
We have already tackled a number of jobs. There is still plenty to do in the coming years, such as replacing the fence, transforming the weed field into a vegetable garden, and perhaps converting that shed into a studio. But now it is already so nice that we can just 'be' there and relax.
The botanical hippie garden has all kinds of fruit trees: orange, mandarin, lemon, grapefruit, fig, cherry, grape, pomegranate and olive trees. I am now learning how to take care of them and luckily my Spanish neighbours know everything. The grapefruits were small the first year but now, the last harvest, they were large and juicy. In addition to many other plants, there is also a special cactus collection in the ground and in hundreds of pots. They were all there. I also have weeds, there are quite nice species that I try to embrace.
The house is suitable for lovers of simplicity and the real Spain. The villages in the area are authentic, without tourists with beautiful old centers with rather practical new construction around them, also very Spanish :) You can eat simply and deliciously for little money and there is not a single hip bar. From the house you can walk in the area and swim in the river. By car you can be in the city in half an hour. You can also take the metro to the city. You park your car (free) at the last metro stop 8 km from the house and travel to the city by metro, which is actually a train. So you do need a car here. A tip is to rent it via Doyouspain.com, not expensive most of the year.
From the provincial road you take the exit to Pla Montero, then it is about two kilometers, of which the last 400 meters are unpaved. The house is situated as the last house all around.
Valencia has the best climate in Spain. The summers are not as hot as in southern Spain and the winters are mild and sunny. You live with the seasons, in the summer it is warm and you mainly seek the shade. In the winter it is often blue during the day and warm in the sun, in the evening it gets chilly and you warm yourself by the wood stove.
